Every Body is a Beach Body: Target Diversifies Its Swim Line

By Katrin Alyss--Great news! Target is stepping up and changing its swim line, carrying suits fit “for every beach body.”

There are a group of body-positive models who are proudly showing off their bodies in Target’s new line of bathing suits, which includes a selection of one-piece and two-piece suits. Plus-size model Denise Bidot, who broke barriers when she was in Layne Bryant’s campaign featuring un-retouched models, proudly bared her cellulite and stretch marks.

Bidot stated, “When a woman can feel positive in a swim suit, isn’t that what it is all about?” Target even remarked on their site, “When you look your best, you feel your best!”

I believe that this is a step in the right direction for Target and I am hoping that other retail chains catch on, in a positive chain reaction.

Women shouldn’t have to feel pressured to get “bikini ready” with the latest fad diet out there. Also, women shouldn’t feel ashamed when they step out into the sun to have some fun! Thank you Target, for taking this important step.
